Telus Launches Track+ Device Trackers Powered by Cellular Connectivity

Telus has announced new device trackers today called Track+, which operate on LTE cellular networks.

These Track+ trackers will cost $120 each, but if you sign a two-year contract on Easy Payment, they are available for $5 per month with 0% APR.

You do not require a Telus phone or mobility line to buy a Telus Track+ device, but you will need to pay for a 1GB Simple Share plan which costs $5 per month.

Telus says Track+ devices can be added to Peace of Mind Connect plans at no extra cost.

Telus Track+ devices can be recharged and include battery life ranging from 2-5 days, says the company, depending on a variety of factors. The trackers can be used anywhere in Canada and the USA where 4G LTE coverage is available, either from Telus or one of its carrier partners.

Customers can set up safety zones, or geofences for a Telus Track+ device and be alerted in real-time when the tracker leaves or enters a specified area. The tracker may be handy for pet owners, as a collar accessory is included.

These trackers are tracked using the Telus Track+ app, which allows you to locate the device immediately. There are also light sensors, which mean if one of these are placed in your luggage, you can be notified that someone opened your bag. The device also has a ringer for audible alerts when trying to locate the tracker.

The company says its TELUS Track+ app “uses Smith Micro’s platform to store and understand your data, and provide useful information back to you. Your personal data will never be sold, traded or used in a way that violates our privacy policy.” The tracker device itself is made by American company Coolpad, Telus explains to iPhone in Canada.

Essentially, if you want to track your pets, kids or luggage, these Telus Track+ trackers will cost you $120 plus a $5/month data plan, or can be added to a Peace of Mind Connect plan for $0. The devices include a pet collar attachment, lanyard and charger.
