Videotron Hits 500,000 Wireless Customers After Three Years

Quebecor Media subsidiary Videotron announced yesterday it has reached the 500,000 wireless user milestone, in just three years after launching its AWS network:

“For three years, Videotron has been pushing the envelope in order to offer its customers more and provide them with the best possible experience,” said Manon Brouillette, President and Chief Operating Officer of Videotron. “Our powerful mobile network makes it possible for 500,000 residential and business customers to enjoy a state-of-the-art product that has yet to reach its full potential. The future is bright for our mobile services: our teams are bursting with ideas and innovative projects.”

For LTE coverage in 2014, Videotron has a network sharing agreement with Rogers to provide service in areas within Quebec and Ontario.

The wireless carrier has been rumoured to be interested in acquiring struggling wireless startup Mobilicity. Videotron is also participating in the Federal government’s 700MHz spectrum auction, with many hoping the regional carrier will decide to go national.
