WIND Mobile Expands Network and Retail Stores to Brantford

Last month WIND Mobile noted it was undergoing a dual carrier HSPA+ upgrade across its network and also said a launch in Brantford would take place this month—and now it has become official.

The company’s network is now live in Brantford, Ontario and also along with it are two new retail stores in the city.

“Today’s announcement is another example of WIND’s continued growth and commitment to being the fourth largest carrier in Canada,” said Anthony Lacavera, Chairman and CEO, WIND Mobile. “We will continue to prove that WIND Mobile is a viable option in the Canadian wireless industry – offering our customers the true mobile freedom they deserve.”

WIND Mobile now has 1,412 sites on air across the country, and is 100 per cent HSPA+ enabled across Canada with speeds of up to 21Mbps.

Last month, speaking at the Canadian Telecom Summit, CEO Anthony Lacavera said the company now has over 735,000 subscribers and also emphasized how it will require an LTE network to compete with incumbents, whose behaviour he labeled as “anti-competitive”.

The new retail locations include one near Laurier’s Brantford campus (84 Dalhousie Street, Brantford, ON N3T 2J2) and a kiosk at Lynden Park Mall (84 Lynden Road, Unit K10 Brantford, ON N3R 6B8).
