WIND Mobile Announces New Chief Commercial Officer

WIND Mobile this morning announced Glen Campbell is the company’s new chief commercial officer, in charge of the company’s sales and distribution, marketing, brand and communications along with customer care.

Campbell arrives from his role as Head of Canada Equity Research and Global Coordinator for Telecom Services Research, from Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He will report directly to CEO Alek Krstajic:

“I am really pleased to be joining WIND Mobile at this exciting stage in its development” said Campbell.  “WIND has carved out an important position within the Canadian wireless marketplace providing affordable, unlimited wireless service to consumers.”

WIND Mobile at this point is the only viable fourth wireless carrier in Canada. Back in March, the company increased its spectrum holdings by 180% as it obtained AWS-3 licenses in BC, Alberta and Ontario, which the company said enable them to launch their “much-needed” LTE network.

Last month, as part of Roger’s acquisition of Mobilicity, WIND Mobile gained more spectrum in the deal, acquiring licenses formerly held by the latter and Shaw, doubling its network capacity. Krstajic said last month WIND is now focusing on getting newer iPhones for customers (it recently launched refurbished iPhone 5s/5c sales) and building its network.

Currently sitting at 800,000 subscribers, Krstajic was optimistic about the company’s future, noting last month “We are going to take a bigger piece of the pie, I don’t know how big a piece yet.”
