Best Buy Mobile has a Friends and Family sale starting today, August 16, until August 19. The sale is offering up to $400 in gift cards on select phone activations with various wireless carriers.
If you need an iPhone 8, Koodo has an offer worth considering, as you can the phone for $0 upfront on a Medium Tab ($360 loan), plus it comes with a $200 Best Buy gift card (or prepaid Mastercard/Visa; worth $192 because of prepaid credit card fees).
Koodo Medium Tab plans start at $50/4GB, but if you’re not happy with the plan, the CRTC Wireless Code allows you to cancel without penalty, but you need to pay back any subsidies.
In this case, that would be the Medium Tab balance at $360 plus any prorated usage ($5 for example). You’d be on the hook for the $35 activation fee plus taxes.
In the end, the iPhone 8 will cost you $448, but if you subtract the $200 Best Buy gift card it works out to $248, points out RFD. Not too shabby, especially if you need a still capable iPhone for the kiddies.
