Google Adds New Features to Google Meet, Including up to 25 Co-Hosts and More Safety Controls

Google is adding an array of new features to Google Meet so users can now have access to more customizable controls and settings for their virtual calls. Though, many features are dependant on whether you are using Google Workspace or regular Meet.

Google announced that all Google Meet users can assign up to 25 co-hosts per meeting in a blog post. Co-hosts can be given access to host controls, limiting who can share their screen, limiting who can send chat messages, and muting all participants or end the meeting. Cohosts can also control who enters with the ‘Quick Access’ setting. However, this feature is only available to specific Workspace editions.

Google is also expanding its Quick Access control to most Google Workspace customers. The Quick Access control will be on by default moving forward, meaning participants from your domain can automatically join the meeting via web or mobile. With Quick Access disabled, the host will have to join the meeting first, only invited participants can join without asking, no anonymous users can join, and only the host can dial out of the meeting.
