This weekend could be the best time to unload your second or third generation iPad. AllthingsD reports that Best Buy USA is holding a two day trade-in event this weekend and you can receive a gift card worth up to $200.
Based on the success of a previous iPhone trade-in program, Best Buy USA has decided to extend it to tablets as well. However, the gift card is not redeemable for cash — it can be used only at a US Best Buy store in your area or for an online purchase.
Best Buy Canada has a similar trade-in program, but there is no specific iPad two-day promo. However, I’ve decided to check out how much an iPad 3 worth using the Canadian trade-in program. After checking with the online value estimator, I’ve found that you can get $221 for an iPad 3 64GB Wifi+Cellular, which is interesting, but the question is: do you really want to drop it at Best Buy? Oh, and it needs to be in good condition, and include the AC adapter, USB sync cable, as well as the manual, otherwise it may impact its value (minus $4 for a missing manual).
A quick check on eBay revealed that these models trade for more than $450 which is more than double the Best Buy offer. It’s all up to you: do you really want to trade-in your iPad using the Best Buy trade-in program available this weekend, or sell it on eBay and get more for your “old” gadget.
