Robots, Explosions, and Awesome Storyline – Retrobot iOS App Review [Video]

What do you get when you combine a little Johnny 5, Wall-E, iRobot and some good Canadian imagination? A really fun side scrolling app with a killer storyline. Endeavor Bros along with Monkube and comic book publisher Ape Entertainment bring you Retrobot.

This is a side-scrolling shoot’em up style iOS game for your iOS devices. Retrobot combines stunning graphics, easy gameplay and a well developed storyline told through the gameplay and the comic book style cut scenes.

You’re Retrobot and you have to save your master after he’s been kidnapped by robots who’ve taken over the world. The game features 5 worlds with several levels within each. At the end of each world you’re confronted by a giant robot boss.

The gameplay and controls are simple to learn. One hand controls the side-to-side movement, while other fires your weapon. This is an endless shooter, so don’t worry about running out of ammo. You try to kill as many of the bad robots along the way, all while dodging enemy fire, and collecting power ups.

Here’s my video review of Retrobot and a look at the game in action.

The story that accompanies this game is great. The comic cut scenes offer more than a few laughs and even some references to video games you’ve likely played.

All in all, Retrobot hits on all the major points you’d expect from an iOS game. It’s fun, offers replay value, has a great storyline and stunning graphics. Even better, as of this review you can get Retrobot for the low price of $0.99. But even at its full $2.99 price tag, Retrobot is well worth it.

Let me know if you’re already playing this game and what you think of it!
