Foxconn Chairman Confirms Preparations For Apple’s Rumored Television

A report from China Daily reveals that Foxconn chairman Terry Gou addressed the topic of Apple’s rumored television yesterday during a news conference in Shanghai.

According to the report, Foxconn is actively making preparations for Apple’s upcoming television, further leveraging its partnership with Sharp to push LCD display technology.

The report also reveals that the name for Apple’s television may in fact be “iTV” and may include Siri, FaceTime, and be constructed of aluminum. Overall the television may look very similar to Apple’s current Cinema Display.

Gou said Foxconn is making preparations for iTV, Apple Inc’s rumored upcoming high-definition television, although development or manufacturing has yet to begin.

iTV reportedly features an aluminum construction, Siri, and FaceTime video calling.

Foxconn’s recent 50-50 joint venture factory with Sharp in Japan is one of the preparations made for the new device, Gou added.

While nothing is completely confirmed, the prospect of an Apple-branded television is exciting, especially one that is Siri controlled! What do you think? Is there room for an Apple television set in your life?
