Apple’s MacBook Pro Gets AMD Radeon Pro Vega GPU Option Starting at $300 in Canada

Last month when Apple held its October special event, announcing its new iPad Pro, MacBook Air and Mac mini, the company quietly announced a new graphics option was coming for its MacBook Pro (it was inserted into the MacBook Air press release).

Here’s what Apple said at the time:

Apple also today announced new MacBook Pro graphics options that will bring powerful Radeon Pro Vega graphics to MacBook Pro for the first time. These new graphics options deliver up to 60 percent faster graphics performance for the most demanding video editing, 3D design and rendering workloads.*

*Testing conducted by Apple in October 2018 using preproduction 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5-based MacBook Air systems with 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD.rendering workloads.

As of this morning, the new AMD Radeon Pro Vega 16 GPU is available for the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar on its website.

Canadian pricing is as follows:

  • $300 – Radeon Pro Vega 16 with 4GB of HBM2 memory
  • $420 – Radeon Pro Vega 20 with 4GB of HBM2 memory
