macOS Monterey Crashes Interactive Broker’s Trader Work Station, Fix Needed

There’s another reason to hold off updating to macOS Monterey, especially if you use Interactive Broker’s (IB) Trader Workstation (TWS) software.

The software “lets traders, investors and institutions trade stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds and funds on over 135 markets worldwide from a single integrated account,” but for those that have recently updated to macOS Monterey including 12.0.1, the Trader Workstation software is crashing abruptly.

According to an iPhone in Canada reader affected by the issue, the TWS software constantly crashes on both Intel and M1 Macs. The only solution so far has been to revert back to macOS Big Sur on Intel Macs. But for those with the latest M1 Pro and M1 Max MacBook Pro computers, they are hooped as it’s not possible to downgrade to Big Sur.

As for what’s causing Interactive Broker’s (IB) Trader Workstation (TWS) software to crash? We’re told it is related to an issue with Java as it hasn’t been updated for macOS Monterey. IB TWS software runs on Java.

As of now, Interactive Broker is telling customers to use their Client Portal or the IBKR mobile app or a different device or older Mac to address the issue.

Are you still waiting for a fix from your Interactive Broker’s (IB) Trader Workstation (TWS) software crashing in macOS Monterey?
