Amazon Echo Spot Launches in Canada, Pricing at $169.99 as Pre-Orders Go Live

Amazon has announced its Echo Spot has launched in Canada and is now available for pre-order at $169.99 CAD in white or black, and set to ship on April 25, 2018.

Echo Spot adds a 2.5-inch screen to go with a speaker, allowing users to play video from Amazon Video, while also view video flash briefings from news sources and more. The display also lets you connect to live camera feeds from compatible smart home devices and also control other smart home products as well.

The Echo Spot includes Amazon’s second generation far-field technology with four microphones and acoustic beam-forming technology, plus noise cancellation. The addition of a front-facing camera means you can make video calls with other contacts.

“Echo Spot combines the popular small design of Echo Dot with the added benefit of a display, and the features you love about Alexa into a stylish and compact device,” said Tom Taylor, Senior Vice President, Amazon Alexa, in an issued statement to iPhone in Canada. “See the weather, watch video news briefings, glance at your alarm clock, make video calls, and more. We think customers in Canada will find lots of places for Echo Spot in their homes.”

The addition of the display on Echo Dot means if you’re a visual person, you can now see your calendars, the weather, alarm clock, to-do lists and more, instead of just listening to audio feedback from Alexa.
