Amazon Fire TV Coming to Ford Explorer and Lincoln Navigator 2022 Models

Amazon has today announced in a blog post that Ford Explorer and Lincoln Navigator will have the Fire TV built-in to their 2022 models. Amazon says the version of Fire TV for autos has been designed to take advantage of Alexa’s hands-free options.

Amazon highlights how automakers can customize their Fire TV experience to do things like integrate with the car’s audio systems or its comfort controls in order to offer unique features designed for their vehicles.

“Stream videos, play games, listen to music, get information, and watch downloaded programs — all while on the road,” notes the company, adding that it will soon add personalized profiles, personalized content recommendations, and an updated home screen.

Alexa is built into the core Fire TV experience, so it’s easy for a rear passenger or parent to use the remote and their voice to quickly find a show or app from within the car. You can even say, “Alexa, show me action movies” or “Alexa, show me the front door” to find something new to watch or to check your Ring doorbell.

Vehicles with two rear screens can either watch individual content on each rear display or mirror across both displays to watch together. For audio, customers can listen via Bluetooth, wired headphones, or use in-car speakers.
