The Amazon Prime Video Store has launched today in Canada, now allowing customers to rent or buy new movies, which includes Hollywood blockbusters and classic fan favourites. The new Prime Video Store is an included addition to a Prime membership.

According to Amazon, movies in the Prime Video Store will from major American studios including Disney, Warner Bros., Sony, Paramount and Lionsgate, for example. Movies available now include popular titles such as Jumanji: The Next Level, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Joker.

The Prime Video Store in Canada also includes local movie studios such as Elevation, with titles available at launch.

Mike Hopkins, SVP Amazon Prime Video & Amazon Studios, said in a statement, “The Prime Video Store brings all Amazon customers the newest releases and blockbuster movies available to rent or buy from top US and local studios, adding to the great range of entertainment already available through Prime Video with a Prime membership.”

Today’s launch in Canada also sees the Prime Video Store debut in France, Italy, Spain and Australia, joining the U.S., UK, Germany and Japan.

Customers can head over to the ‘Store’ tab in the Prime Video navigation menu, available across all devices and the web. Amazon says previous rent or buy movies can be viewed in the ‘My Stuff’ tab in the Prime Video iOS app.

With everyone staying home and consuming content due to COVID-19, this couldn’t be a better time to debut a new video store to rent or buy movies.
