Peter Kafka from Re/code, who always has reliable sources, says Apple’s $3.2 billion Beats Electronics deal may not be finalized until next week:
Apple’s planned deal to buy Beats Electronics for $3.2 billion may not be finalized until next week, according to people familiar with the transaction. That’s a longer timetable than some people expected as recently as a few days ago.
The Financial Times broke the news just under a week ago Apple was in talks to acquire Beats for a reported $3.2 billion deal. Beats co-founder and rap legend Dr. Dre seemingly confirmed the deal in a video posted on actor Tyrese’s Facebook page, which was shortly removed.
Co-founder Jimmy Iovine and Dre would reportedly have senior roles at Apple and other rumours cited both men could make their debut at upcoming WWDC 2014, set to kick off on June 2. Earlier reports also mentioned how Iovine would be key to deal, based on his previous close relationship with Steve Jobs.
