“Education is in Apple’s DNA,” Apple’s marketing chief Phil Schiller said on stage about five years ago. Since then, we’ve seen Apple aiming to transform education with its tools, and Apple Teacher is one of them.

Apple Teacher, now available in multiple countries, is a free professional learning program designed to support educators using Apple’s products for teaching and learning. The program is open to all educators, and it enables schools and districts to offer free professional learning that their staff can work through together, according to Apple Teacher’s dedicated microsite.

Becoming an Apple Teacher is easy: You sign up with your professional Apple ID, and you’ll get access to the Apple Teacher Learning Centre, an interactive library of curated resources, learning collections, product tips, lesson ideas, and inspiration from other educators.

But besides learning from materials available in the interactive library, an Apple Teacher can also attend Apple workshops, or if you are looking for more guided professional learning, the EdTechTeam offers online courses, workshops, and conferences. You can read more about Apple Teacher here.

Another education-centered program supported by Apple is “Apple Distinguished Schools.” These are “centers of leadership and educational excellence that demonstrate Apple’s vision for learning with technology—and we believe they are some of the most innovative schools in the world,” the company says.

There are 400 Apple Distinguished Schools in 29 countries, including 19 in Canada, according to Apple. These schools are collaborating with Apple to host on-site educator visits. During these events, school leaders demonstrate their vision for learning with Apple technology, and educators can show off their best practices for using iPad, Mac apps, and more.

The Apple Distinguished School program is by invitation only for schools that meet program specifications. The distinction is for two years, but, of course, they can renew each invitation period.

Now you can request an invitation for your own school until March 13, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.
