Apple Posts Job Listing for ‘Car Experience Engineer’ in China

According to Tesla North, Apple is looking to hire a “Car Experience Partner Engineer” in China. Apple is seeking a software engineer to work on its automotive offerings in the world’s largest car market.

The job listing on Apple’s website, posted on May 30, states:

This is a hybrid role between technical engineering and program managing – you will be responsible to provide technical design and development guidance, to handle certification records across the Car Experience programs (inc. CarPlay, car keys in Wallet) and to facilitate communication between Apple and global automotive industry engineering.

While it is possible that the job opening has something to do with Apple’s long-rumoured “Project Titan” electric vehicle, the company has more going on in the automotive space as well.

Earlier this month, Apple unveiled the next generation of CarPlay. However, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman believes even that is a precursor to the much-anticipated Apple Car.

The listing invites applications from candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related vertical. Also required are expertise in embedded systems engineering and the ability to assess usability and design concepts.

The new hire will work as part of Apple’s Car Experience team in Shanghai, Shenzhen, or Beijing.

Apple’s self-driving electric car team has seen several high-profile exits as of late. However, Project Titan has reportedly been making good progress since Apple Watch chief Kevin Lynch took charge last year. Just last month, Apple won a patent for an autonomous electric vehicle charger.
