Apple Sends ‘CareKit’ Package to Employees Stranded at Home in China Due to Coronavirus

Apple has sent a number of care packages to its employees who are stuck in Wenzhou and Hubei, China due to coronavirus. The package includes food, drinks, sanitation items such as disinfecting wipes, and an iPad.

Although many of Apple’s retail locations have reopened since the surge of coronavirus, there have still been plenty of cases where many residences in the Wenzhou and Hubei area have remained at home for their own well being, this includes many Apple staff members. According to MacRumors, Apple sent “CareKit” packages to assist them during this tumultuous time.

The care packages were first spotted on the Chinese social network platform Weibo. Along with the package, Apple sent a letter to the employees. When translated, the letter reads:

“Dear Colleagues in Hubei and Wenzhou,

We hope this note finds you healthy and well. Since the last communication with you, we understand that you are all staying strong in this challenging time. We understand the difficulties you are facing and would like to provide our best support to you and your families. Hubei and the city of Wuhan have been hit hardest by the coronavirus outbreak, which has now claimed 2,835 lives in China.

We are sending our best wishes to you, on behalf of the entire Apple Team, together with another CareKit for you and your families. In the kit, you will find comfort items and an ?iPad? which can be used to facilitate children’s online learning or help pass the time during the prolonged stay at home.”

In a recent shareholder meeting, Apple CEO Tim Cook acknowledged the troubles coronavirus has caused since the start of the year. In a place where Apple is gearing up to release a wave of new products, Cook called the results of the virus a “challenge”.
