‘Apple Together’ Group Stages Retail Walkout on December 24 Over Working Conditions

A group of Apple workers are planning to stage a walkout today, December 24th, over working conditions within retail locations and beyond. The ‘Apple Together‘ group is demanding better working conditions, paid sick leave, as well as mental healthcare.

Posted on Twitter, Apple Together has stated that workers within retail, AppleCare and corporate positions will be hosting a walkout today. The group has taken form after the #AppleToo movement, which saw Apple employees advocate for better working conditions and share experiences facing sexual harassment and sexism within the company. Now, the group is asking consumers not to shop at Apple, both in retail locations and online, and demands “that Apple upholds its image with your wallet”.

On the group’s website, Apple Together states that “Apple prides itself on its commitment to diversity, equity, and an environment where everyone can do their best work.” It continues, “But Apple has fallen short of this goal for so many of our current and former teammates, so we made space to share those stories with #AppleToo.”

It’s unclear just how many Apple workers will be taking part in the walkout.

On the Apple Together website, the group has established a ton of resources for the Apple workforce. Included are funds for organizers, legal resources, wage transparency data, and salary negotiation tools. There is also an emergency fund for both Apple and Netflix workers in the US.
