Apple Wins UK’s ‘CoolBrand’ Award for Third Consecutive Time
Battling off the competition form Nike and Aston Martin, Apple has once again retained the number one spot in the UK’s CoolBrands Top 20. As highlighted by The Telegraph, Twitter has fallen out of the Top 20, ending its three-year stint among the leading CoolBrands, while Netflix broke into the Top 20 for the first time, claiming tenth place on the list.
The results follow an independent poll of over 2,000 British consumers and opinion formers including musicians, digital entrepreneurs and fashion models. This year, eight of the twenty places in the CoolBrands list are being occupied by technology brands. Google and YouTube made repeat appearances, in sixth and seventh place respectively, along with Bang & Olufsen in eleventh place, Bose in fifteenth and Sony in eighteenth place.
Apple topped the list for a third consecutive year and, as a digital influencer myself, it is really refreshing that technology has a strong presence on the list,” said Jamal Edwards, digital entrepreneur and founder of SB.TV.” That said, it was not all positive for the Technorati, as Twitter hit a slight dip and fell out of the Top 20.” In total, 13 brands retained their Top 20 status from last year – including Aston Martin, Chanel and Nike – highlighting the continued dominance of the leading cool brands and a general lack of impact from newer rivals.
