Apple Registers a Number of Unreleased Apple Watch and iPhone Models in EEC Database

Apple has registered new iPhone and Apple Watch models with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) just weeks before the Cupertino company’s annual September event.

The EEC filings, uncovered by various news sites including AppleInsider and MacRumors, indicate there are a dozen new iPhone models coming — all running iOS 13. There are also four new Apple Watch models listed as running watchOS 6. Two of the iPhone models were previously filed in May as running iOS 12, but they’ve been updated to show they’re running iOS 13.

The filings show the model numbers of the new iPhone models listed as running iOS 13 are A2111, A2160, A2161, A2215, A2216, A2217, A2218, A2219, A2220, A2221, A2223, A2296, and A2298, as well as four new Apple Watch models listed as running watchOS 6 with model numbers A2156, A2157, A2092, and A2093.

All of the iPhone models, save A2296 and A2298, were previously filed with the EEC as running iOS 12 — they’ve since been updated to reflect the fact that they will be running iOS 13. The Apple Watch listings have never been seen until now.

Apple also filed 11 new Mac models to the EED, but all of them have either already been released or were previously filed in June as running macOS Mojave — they have now been updated to reflect that they’re running macOS Catalina. One of the model numbers is likely the widely-expected 16-inch MacBook Pro set to release this year.

Eurasian Economic Commission filings have prematurely revealed upcoming products in the past too, and these listings suggest that iPhone and Apple Watch will be among the headliners at this year’s event next month.
