
Ahead of next week’s WWDC22 kick off, Apple has shared new data about how the App Store has protected customers from fraudulent transactions.
Apple says its annual update on fraud prevention analysis shows in 2021, the company “protected customers from nearly $1.5 billion in potentially fraudulent transactions, and stopped over 1.6 million risky and vulnerable apps and app updates from defrauding users.”
The company says it continuously monitors the App Store with multiple teams to prevent fraud, noting “respected security experts have said the App Store is the safest place to find and download apps.”

Apple says in 2021, it also “deactivated over 170 million customer accounts associated with fraudulent and abusive activity”, allowing the company to shut down “dishonest behaviour”.
