State Farm: Distracted Driving is a Serious Problem in Canada [VIDEO]

According to a new report titled the “Canadian Driving Habits” published by insurance company State Farm, distracted driving has become a serious problem in Canada (via MobileSyrup). The report agrees with the recent statement from Kathleen Wynne, Premier of Ontario, that “the most dangerous thing a person can do on the road is distracted driving”. She further said that “These machines are so ubiquitous in their lives that they just have them with them all the time, and so we need to break that cycle”.

Distracted driving

In its latest report, State Farm notes that it polled 1,300 Canadians and found that 93% feel that other drivers drive while they are distracted, but only 56% believe they themselves drive while distracted. In addition, 33% admitted to checking their mobile device once or more while driving.

The survey also indicated that distracted driving is the most dangerous thing a person can do on the road, followed by running a red light or stop sign, aggressive driving and speeding.
