eBay Developing Apple Watch Software to Work with its Flagship iOS App

As pointed out by AppleInsider, a recent job listing for an Apple Watch software engineer on LinkedIn, which was also posted on eBay’s official careers webpage in November last year, has revealed that eBay’s Apple Watch app is being developed by the company’s New Technology Group as an augmentation of its flagship iOS app. It is however not yet clear whether or not eBay for Apple Watch will work untethered, that is without constant connection to an iPhone.

“An ideal candidate will have five years of experience in software design and development and at least three years experience developing iOS apps object-oriented design patterns and principles. Development experience with Android or Windows 8 is considered a bonus”.

In addition to the Apple Watch app, eBay’s New Technology Group, which has over 200 employees in its ranks, is also engaged in developing solutions for CarPlay, Apple TV and other “opportunities within the Apple ecosystem”.

Yesterday, Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed during the company’s quarterly conference call that Apple Watch is scheduled to ship in April this year.
