Energizer Unveils Massive 18,000mAh Battery Smartphone

Smartphone users demand great battery life from their devices, but the newly-unveiled Energizer Power Max P18K Pop takes that idea to another level entirely.

The new handset was shown off at the Mobile World Congress industry event, drawing attention for the vast 18,000mAH power brick that sits on its back — three times as thick as an iPhone.

The company says you’ll be able to watch videos for around two days off the back of a single charge. It can also power up to 90 hours of calls, and up to 100 hours of music and, in standby mode, the battery will keep going for up to 50 days.

Unsurprisingly, you’ll also be able to use the Power Max P18K Pop as a power bank for charging up other devices.

The phone is, of course, extreme almost to the point of parody, especially when one considers that the device’s absurd physical dimensions will likely make it impossible to fit into plenty of reasonably-sized pockets.

Battery aside, the P18K Pop’s other specs are pretty good. As is the trend this year, the phone has no less than five cameras built in – three on the back and two front-facing selfie cams. The rear has a 12-megapixel main camera backed up by a 5-MP and a 2-MP camera, which should give a decent depth of field.

The handset features a 6.2-inch, Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9, a MediaTek Helio P70 processor, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which you can boost by a further 128GB via the microSD card slot.

When the P18K launches in the summer, it will automatically become the smartphone with the largest battery in the world. It will retail for 600 euros (or about $900 CAD), but there aren’t currently plans to release it in Canada.
