Eve Systems Adds iOS 14 HomeKit Functionality to Eve Light Strip, Eve Cam
Eve Systems has added increased iOS 14 functionality with both its Eve Light Strip and Eve Cam.
The Eve Light Strip from Eve Systems has added functionality for iOS 14’s Adaptive Lighting HomeKit feature as well as HomeKit’s Secure Video.
A new press release obtained by IIC explains that the Eve LED Light Strip can now adjust the colour temperature throughout the day via the Eve App. With such functionality, users can see warmer colours in the mornings, cooler colours in the afternoon, and a reduced amount of blue light in the evenings.
“Eve products are all about simplicity and privacy. By leveraging HomeKit, we combine these attributes with an ever-expanding set of powerful features”, says Jerome Gackel, CEO, Eve Systems. “iOS 14 takes Eve accessories to yet another level, adding advanced functionality to Eve Cam and turning Eve Light Strip into the first lighting solution to support the amazing Adaptive Lighting mode.”
According to Eve, the colours adjust automatically throughout the day through gentile transitions. The feature does, however, require a HomePod or an Apple TV (4th generation or later) as a home hub.
Additionally, the Eve Cam, designed exclusively for Apple HomeKit Secure Video, is now able to detect faces, with recognition performed on-device with the Home Hub. Users can create their own face galleries by saving new faces along with a name, or users can use their regular Photo libraries.
Users can now define activity zones, and notifications can be triggered only when activity is detected within that preset area. The camera can also now send its live stream to Apple TV devices with tvOS 14 through the media player’s Control Center.
The Eve Light Strip starts at $79.95 USD, with a 6.5 foot extension coming in at an additional $49.95. The Eve Cam, on the other hand, costs $149.95 USD. Both are available on the Eve Store and from the Apple Store.
