Back in the spring, Google announced Jamboard, their smart whiteboard with cloud-based features, in the United States. As of today, Canadians looking to order the Jamboard can do so at the price of $6,949 CAD.
Jamboard requires a G Suite license and is aimed at the enterprise and education sectors, seeking a turn-key solution for collaboration in a device that’s connected to the web.
Other competition would be established player SMART Boards, whose products can be seen in numerous education settings, or the Microsoft Surface Hub, which starts at $7,000 USD ($8800 CAD).
The unit houses a 55-inch 4K touchscreen with a built-in wide angle camera and “vibrant down-firing” speakers, powered by an embedded Nvidia Jetson TX1 computer. It has a 120 Hz touch refresh rate, 60 Hz video refresh rate, 1mm accuracy, no batteries or charging, while also supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC, to go with HDMI, USB 3.0 and Type C ports.
The whiteboard comes in three colours with an optional rolling stand or it can be wall mounted.
Jamboard comes with 2 styluses, 1 eraser and 1 wall mount. A current promo offers a discount on the unit’s annual manage and support fee ($410 off), plus the rolling stand ($200 off):
With the companion Jamboard iOS app, users can easily share and edit their Jams, while the iPhone version of the app acts as a controller for the main unit.
