On Friday, Apple launched the new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus and after the launch we have discovered some interest tidbits about the device.
According to a new report from MacRumors, Apple has outlined changes to the method used to force restart or hard reset an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus in a recent support document.
Up to the iPhone 6s, rebooting any iPhone involved holding down the Home Button and Power button at the same time for at least 10 seconds. With the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, the process moved to holding the Power button and Volume down buttons. Starting with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, users who want to force restart their device will have to:
- Press and quickly release the Volume Up button.
- Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.
- Press and hold the Side button (aka power) until you see the Apple logo.
Powering off the device is still the same. By holding down the side button for a few seconds, you will be prompted with a “Slide to Power Off” slider. Starting in iOS 11, there is also an option to shutdown the device in the Settings app.
