Instagram Debuts ‘Nametag’ Customizable Identification Card Feature

In an effort to make connecting and sharing with friends even easier, Instagram has today announced the launch of a new ‘Nametag’ feature, that lets you create a customized image that other people can scan with the Instagram Stories camera to follow you.

Your Nametag is uniquely yours and makes it quick and fun to add people and accounts you discover in person. You can try out your nametag by going to your profile, tapping the button with three lines at the top, and selecting ‘Nametag’.

To personalize your Nametag, simply touch anywhere on the screen or tap the button at the top to try other designs, such as colours, emojis, and selfies with different stickers.

To scan someone’s Nametag, you can either swipe right into the camera, hover over the Nametag and hold down on your screen, or enter the camera by tapping “Scan a Nametag” when viewing your own. Nametags can easily be shared with your friends through text messages and over other platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp.

Nametag is available globally on both iOS and Android starting today. To learn more, check out the Instagram Help Center
