Introducing Vine, A New Video Sharing Service From Twitter

Twitter has today announced its brand new video sharing service Vine, that allows users to attach video clips to their tweets. Vine is currently available as a free app on the iOS App Store but according to Twitter’s blog post, the service will soon make its way to other mobile platforms as well.

Last year, Twitter acquired Vine Labs, a start-up based in New York. Videos posted on Vine are on an infinite loop, in a manner similar to animated gifs. Users are allowed to post videos lasting 6 seconds or less, then share them on Twitter and Facebook. Users can also search for videos in Vine based on hashtags or subjects.

Today, we’re introducing Vine: a mobile service that lets you capture and share short looping videos. Like Tweets, the brevity of videos on Vine (6 seconds or less) inspires creativity. Now that you can easily capture motion and sound, we look forward to seeing what you create.
