Apple has released beta 2 of iOS 4.3 to developers. Features include the WiFi hotspot, as advertised on the Verizon iPhone 4, and more should be revealed as developers open it up and take a look. If you are a developer wanting to test this firmware, the minimum system version required for iOS 4.3 development is now Mac OS X v10.6.6.
- A pre-release version of Apple TV Software is being provided in order to test AirPlay functionality with your iOS 4.3 apps.
- iOS SDK 4.3 and iOS 4.3 beta are for development purposes only. This software should only be installed on devices dedicated exclusively for iOS 4.3 beta app development and can not be used for compiling submissions to the App Store.
- Devices updated to iOS 4.3 beta can not be restored to earlier versions of iOS. Devices will be able to upgrade to future beta releases and the final iOS 4.3 software.
- iOS SDK 4.3 beta, iOS 4.3 beta, and Apple TV Software beta are pre-release software and are considered Apple Confidential Information and are subject to the terms of your iOS Developer Program License Agreement. Unauthorized distribution or disclosure of Apple Confidential Information is prohibited.
A warning to you jailbreakers out there. There is no jailbreak or unlock for this newest firmware and baseband, so if you need your iPhone unlocked to use it, stay away from this release. Typically, all regular iPhone users should avoid pre-release firmware, as it is meant for developers to test with their apps, before the public release.
