DXOMark has today released its camera quality test results for Apple’s flagship iPhone 11 Pro Max, ranking the device as third overall in its list of best smartphone cameras with a total score of 117. Huawei Mate 30 Pro and Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro Premium Edition currently share the top spot on the list each with a total score of 121.
For its smartphone camera reviews and scoring, the publication captures and evaluates over 1600 test images and more than 2 hours of video both in controlled lab environments and in natural indoor and outdoor scenes, using the camera’s default settings.
With its Photo score of 124, the iPhone 11 Pro also received a stellar score of 102 for video quality which puts it at first place tied with the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro Premium Edition. The iPhone also holds the top spot for audio quality with a score of 71.
“The camera performed very well in our tests in pretty much all areas, but some challenges remain. Still images generally show very good exposure. Dynamic range is very wide in bright light and under indoor conditions, but some highlight clipping is still visible in very difficult scenes. Overall, the iPhone is among the very best for exposure; it’s only in very low light when can’t keep up with devices with larger image sensors, such as the Huawei Mate 30 Pro.”
