Alleged iPhone 12 Pro Leak Suggests 6.1-inch Model to Get LiDAR Feature Too [VIDEO]

Alleged iphone 12 pro leak

After teasing a picture of an alleged iPhone 12 Pro metal chassis, YouTube channel EverythingApplePro has shared a video on Twitter as promised.

“Here it is! Official iPhone 12 Pro chassis leak. Confirms mostly same camera with new LiDAR placement, flat sides, magnet cutouts & smart connector-like 5G antenna?”, said EverythingApplePro on Friday afternoon.

“This seems to confirm the 6.1 Pro model will get LiDAR too. October can’t come soon enough,” says the YouTube channel.

The video shows the metal chassis of what claims to be from a 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro, with a polished metal chassis and design reminiscent of the iPhone 4/4S and iPhone 5/5S. We also get a look at the inside where the wireless charging coil would go, while no buttons are attached to the empty chassis.

The back of the chassis where the cameras reside include an extra cutout, which may suggest the placement of LiDAR for the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro. Rumours have claimed only the larger 6.7-inch ‘iPhone 12 Pro Max’ would get LiDAR technology as we’ve seen on the 2020 iPad Pros. It would be odd for both Pro models to lack identical features.

While this could be a fake, leaker Jon Prosser replied to a comment asking “this it?” and the latter said “yeah”.

It’s also worth mentioning Prosser claims he has seen AirTags and AirPods Studio, saying they “look great”.

This year Apple is rumoured to debut two iPhone 12 Pro models (6.1 and 6.7-inches) and two regular iPhone 12 models (5.4-inch and 6.1 models).

Apple is set to hold a special event on Tuesday to most likely unveil new Apple Watch models and iPads, but reports claim the iPhone won’t be announced until October, delayed due to COVID-19.
