iPhone 5 to Launch in Late October Instead of September?

Some more iPhone 5 rumours are coming your way, this time via John Paczkowski from AllThingsD. According to his sources, the iPhone 5 will be an ‘October surprise’ rather than be announced in September. His source refutes recent reports AT&T employees in the US received blacked out vacation periods during the end of September:

“I don’t know why AT&T’s calling for all hands on deck those weeks, but it’s not for an iPhone launch,” a source familiar with Apple’s plans said.

So, when can we expect the company to uncrate the iPhone 5?

“October,” the source said, while declining to offer a hard launch date. Other sources said it will be later in the month rather than earlier.

iOS 5 is set to launch in September, and if Apple holds their annual September iPod Event, a simultaneous Phone 5 announcement could take place and would coincide perfectly. If the event takes place in mid/early September, Apple could announce release dates for weeks later, to take place in October. Add in the industry connections ATD has (they host the annual D conference), and this story might have a little weight.

As August passes, expect even juicier iPhone 5 rumours to ‘develop’. Let’s hope for decent Fall weather for those line ups, eh?
