It appears the first Apple Premier Reseller has opened in Canada. Jump+ celebrated its grand opening on Saturday in Guelph, Ontario, the same launch day as the Metrotown Apple Store in Burnaby. You may think this is just like any other reseller, but there are differences between Apple Resellers versus Premium Apple Resellers according to Apple:
Apple Resellers are described as:
Apple shops are located in the personal computer department of a multi-brand computer electronics stores. Identified by the large backlit Apple logo of each Apple shop, you will be able to find dedicated Apple-trained and Apple-certified Mac experts who can come up with the right solution for you.
…versus Apple Premium Resellers:
Conveniently located and beautifully designed, Apple Premium Resellers is the place to be to find your favourite Apple products. The entire store focuses exclusively on the Mac, iPod, and iPhone platform, whether you are a new or existing customer, trained staff will be able to find a solution that is right for you.
According to the Jump+ website, their experience offers much more than your average reseller. Benefits include 7 day price protection, students discounts, PC to Mac data transfer, service of any Apple product, and loaner Macs during repairs.
It’s apparent premium resellers resemble Apple Stores in their physical design and service, beyond conventional resellers with their hardwood floors and prominent product layout. It’s like a mini Apple Store with Apple-trained staff on hand. Apple Premium Resellers are popular internationally where regular Apple Store retail locations have yet to open, such as in Singapore. iStudio at Changi International Airport and epiCentre Apple Premium Resellers can be seen below, showcasing similar designs as Jump+:
Apple has outsourced Colliers International to assist in locating suitable locations for further suburban Premium Resellers in BC according to our sources. Stay tuned for more.
