Kate Winslet on Steve Jobs Biopic Shoot: “It Was Extraordinary”

A day after the Universal Pictures’ Steve Jobs biopic teaser was released, the actors have started speaking about it. In an interview with Entertainment Week (via MacRumors), Jeff Labreque asked Kate Winslet – who plays Joanna Hoffman, one of the original members of both the Macintosh team and the NeXT team – about her experience during the shooting. The movie is in the post-production phase, according to IMDB.

“The way in which that film was shot was extraordinary… extraordinary,” said Winslet, whose excitement for the project bubbled to the surface during her recent press tour for A Little Chaos.

“We have nine-minute takes, sometimes even longer,” Winslet continued. “I think there’s a scene that Michael and Jeff had that was about 14 pages, so it really went for 11 minutes of continuous dialogue. It’s not unusual for an actor to learn huge passages of dialogue when you do a play. But it is unusual for an actor like Michael Fassbender to learn 182 pages of dialogue of which he’s on every page. It’s like Hamlet, times two.”

The script was written by Aaron Sorkin and consists of three acts presenting the backstage of Steve Jobs’ “most momentous tech launches”: 1984, the launch of the Macintosh; 1988, the NeXT computer; and 1998, the launch of the iMac.

The Steve Jobs biopic will be available in October. While Michael Fassbender doesn’t resemble Steve Jobs physically, he certainly delivers the Apple co-founder’s passion, arrogance, and mad-genius aura, writes EW.
