Keep These Apple Products Away From Pacemakers [LIST]

Apple has updated its support document on Apple products that contain magnets to include a comprehensive list of products that users should keep “a safe distance away” from medical devices such as implanted cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators (via MacRumors).

Earlier this month, a small study conducted by the American Health Association spanning different types of pacemakers and implantable defibrillators found that 11 of the 14 cardiac devices tested experienced interference when in close proximity (within 1.5 cm) to an iPhone 12 Pro Max, even with the medical device still in its sealed package.

Back in January, a study published by the Heart Rhythm Journal found that an iPhone 12 was able to deactivate a cardiac pacemaker in close proximity. Another study in February found that all MagSafe-enabled devices had the potential to yield the same result.

In response to the findings, Apple had previously updated the same support document, instructing users to keep the iPhone 12 models, MagSafe devices, and MagSafe accessories a safe distance away from medical devices.

The latest iteration of the support document, published June 25, warns that the following Apple products should be kept more than six inches away (or more than 12 inches away if the product is wirelessly charging) from medical devices:
