Microsoft to Host ‘Xbox Anniversary Celebration’ on November 15

This year, Microsoft’s Xbox brand is celebrating its 20th anniversary. As such, the company is hosting a special ‘Xbox Anniversary Celebration’ on November 15th to look back on two decades of its console and celebrate three months of back-to-back game launches in Game Pass.

Microsoft has announced its plans to host an Xbox 20th anniversary stream via Xbox Wire. Matt Booty, Head of Xbox Game Studios, stated that a part of the celebration would be dedicated to focusing on the strong first-party output on Xbox Game Pass. Throughout the summer and leading all the way through to December 8, Microsoft plans to deliver memorable and exciting titles on its gaming service.

Psychonauts 2 leads the charge as it was released on Aug. 25. Age of Empires IV is just around the corner, releasing on October 28. Following that, the anticipated Forza Horizon 5 drops on Xbox Game Pass on Nov. 9 with Microsoft Flight Simulator: Game of the Year Edition following soon after on Nov. 18. Lastly, Halo Infinite, one of Xbox’s biggest titles lands on Dec. 8 and Minecraft: Caves & Cliffs in late 2021. It’s a strong lineup from Microsoft and the Xbox Game Studios brand, strengthening the Xbox Game Pass catalogue.

In addition to spotlighting the game releases, the Xbox Anniversary Celebration will focus on highlighting the past 20 years of Xbox. Booty notes that the company will not “announce any new games”. However, that statement may not cover updates to already announced games such as State of Decay 3, Fable, Redfall, etc. More details on what to expect will be released soon in the lead-up to the event.

The Xbox Anniversary Celebration will be held on Nov 15 at 1 PM ET/ 10 AM PT.
