Multiple iPhone 5 Suppliers Have Geared Up for Production

According to a report by Digitimes, iPhone 5 suppliers in Taiwan have started production of the next-generation device from Apple, with shipments to being shortly:

Production of iPhone 5s at OEM maker Foxconn Electronics has reportedly reached 150,000 units per day, according to industry sources.

Lens maker Largan Precision, touch panel maker TPK Holding, reinforced glass supplier G-Tech Optoelectronics and battery vendors Simplo and Dynapack are all operating at full swing currently, the sources indicated.

iPhone 5 shipments are also reported to hit 5-6 million units in September and exceed 22 million units in the fourth quarter, with less emphasis on existing iPhone 4, according to sources. As for Pegatron Technology, earlier rumoured to produce 15% of iPhone 5 units, the company will not ship until early 2012.

The iPhone 5 is rumoured to be released in October, with an imminent media event set to take place in September. Rumours have pointed at a possible October launch in Canada with Telus, and other reports of Rogers employees undergoing ‘pre-launch’ training. Recently, another lost prototype was misplaced in San Francisco, according to the SFPD.
