Netflix to Launch Wachowski-Produced Sci-Fi TV Series ‘Sense8’ in 2014

Netflix looks to continue its offering of original exclusive content for its subscribers. Today the company announced it has teamed up with the Wachowskis (the makers of The Matrix, Cloud Atlas) and Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5 creator) to launch science fiction thriller ‘Sense8’ in late 2014. 10 episodes are slated for the first season, which will be the first time the Wachowskis have worked on a television production:

“Andy and Lana Wachowski and Joe Straczynski are among the most imaginative writers and gifted visual storytellers of our time,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. “Their incredible creations are favorites of Netflix members globally and we can’t wait to bring Sense8 to life.”

Netflix earlier released David Fincher-directed political drama, House of Cards to its members back in February (it’s a great show by the way), a $100 million experiment set for two seasons. In late 2013, Netflix will debut the animated comedy Turbo: F.A.S.T., part of a collaboration with Dreamworks. On May 4th, the highly anticipated fourth season of the cult TV comedy, Arrested Development, will exclusively debut on Netflix.
