Nintendo Direct September 2021 Recap: Everything Announced [VIDEO]

A Nintendo Direct video presentation took place on Thursday afternoon, announcing new games coming for Nintendo Switch owners in 2021 and 2022, and more.

Aside from new games coming, Nintendo announced a new membership plan for Nintendo Switch Online that will bring classic library games from Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis. Nintendo says “members can play select titles like Mario Kart 64 online with up to four players for the first time ever,” with additional accessories required that will be sold separately.

“Heading into its sixth year, Nintendo Switch and its wide variety of games continue to offer experiences for various types of players,” said Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Communications, in an issued statement to iPhone in Canada. “In this latest Nintendo Direct, we are looking ahead to a year packed with new games in well-known franchises, as well as unique and exciting titles from our development and publishing partners.”

These are the SEGA Genesis games that will be available at launch:

Nintendo Switch Online members will be able to pre-order new wireless controllers that look like the original Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis, in the near future, to be used to play these classic console games online. Release dates and pricing are coming soon, says Nintendo.
