Pinterest’s New Coronoavirus-Focused ‘Today’ Tab Launches in Canada

Pinterest recently announced a limited launch of its new ‘Today’ tab offering daily inspiration with a special focus on the COVID-19 pandemic and now, the company has revealed that the feature will be rolled out over the next few days to 13 new countries, including Canada.

According to Pinterest, the Today Tab has been introduced with “expert information from the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control.” Additionally, inspirational content such as kid-friendly baking ideas, self-care tips and family-favorite movies based on trending Pins will also be featured.

Pinterest hit all-time highs in engagement globally this past week, with searches up nearly 55% year on year. In Canada, searches increased nearly 40% YoY and boards created increased around 39% YoY. 

People are coming to Pinterest as a positive space for inspiration for what to do at home during this new normal. There has been a significant increase in people searching for what they can cook quickly and easily, crafts and lesson plans for kids, tips for growing vegetables, and more. 

Since March 1st, searches have increased on Pinterest by nearly 25% globally. Video continues to be one of the favorite formats for Pinners, and views on video Pins have nearly tripled compared to the same time last year.
