According to a press release, Pixelmator Pro has a new update in the App Store. A free download for existing users, the Pixelmator Pro 2.1 update adds support for a new crop tool powered by machine learning, Quick Fill, and more.
“With a wide range of professional-grade, nondestructive image editing tools, Pixelmator Pro lets you bring out the best in your photos, create gorgeous compositions and designs, draw, paint, apply stunning effects, design beautiful text, and edit images in just about any way you can imagine,” the company explains. “And thanks to its intuitive and accessible design, Pixelmator Pro is delightfully easy to use — whether you’re just starting out with image editing or you’re a seasoned pro.”
The crop tool as a whole has been reworked to make use of machine learning, making it easier to crop photos so they look just the way you want them to, 7 new photographic overlays are also part of the refresh, explains the press release:
- The Crop tool has been redesigned and now features an ML Crop button that provides suggestions for how you could crop your >- photos to make them more eye-catching.
- The Crop tool will now be much faster with large documents that contain many layers.
- New perspective correction sliders will let you adjust the perspective of images right in the Crop tool.
- The Crop tool now features 7 photographic overlays, such as Rule of Thirds, Golden Ratio, and Golden Spiral.
The app has also added a Stroke with Brush feature that facilitates painting with the app’s brushes along the path of shapes and image layers. The feature joins a new brush picker and an option for smoothing strokes. Additionally, the Type tool has been updated to add a slider that quickly resizes text and the ability to control paragraph spacing.
Pixelmator Pro also gains a new Quick Fill feature that allows users to fill images, shapes, and text layers with a color “using the magic of drag and drop.”
