If you’re an RBC customer collecting RBC Rewards points, you can now use your points to pay bills.

According to RBC, their new Pay Bills with Points will allow clients to use their RBC Rewards points to pay invoices like phone, internet, utility bills and more, calling it a “first for any rewards program in Canada” to do so.

“RBC Rewards is unique because it’s designed with our members at the centre of everything we do, giving them the power to use their rewards for what’s most important to them – from the everyday to do’s like picking up groceries and paying bills to achieving their bucket list travel dreams with our market leading travel rewards – and everything in between,” said Jacquelina Calisto, Vice President, Loyalty & Rewards, RBC, in an issued statement. “It’s what a rewards program should be.”

Last year, RBC launched Pay with Points at Point of Sale, allowing RBC Rewards to be used for everyday purchases.

Here’s how RBC’s Pay Bills with Points will work—just log in to RBC mobile banking or the web and:

  1. Go to the bill payments page, and select the RBC Rewards tab
  2. Choose the bill they want to pay
  3. Enter the amount to be paid to convert into points
  4. Click submit to complete the payment

RBC Rewards says it is “Canada’s largest bank-owned loyalty program”, available with select RBC credit cards. RBC Rewards customers can check their points and redeem for rewards via the iOS or Android app.
