Samsung is set to hold a virtual ‘Unpacked’ to reveal its upcoming new devices, including the Note 20, Galaxy Z Fold 2, and Galaxy Z Flip. The keynote has been revealed to be held on August 5th.

A virtual version of the annual Samsung ‘Unpacked’ keynote has been revealed for the month of August. Reported by CNET, Samsung announced the event by releasing a brief YouTube video.

Samsung is expected to reveal the new Note 20 line. It is said that unlike last year, where only two models, the Note 10 and Note 10 Plus, were revealed, Samsung will unveil three devices under the banner of Note 20. It’s been rumoured that Samsung will announce a Note 20, Note 20 Plus, and finally, a Note 20 Ultra. The latter is believed to have two curved screens with minimal bezels and a thinner body than the Note 20 Plus. All three models of the Note 20 family are expected to have 5G connectivity as well.

Unpacked will also likely be the event where Samsung reveals the second-gen Galaxy Z Fold, its phone-to-tablet hybrid device. Following a tricky launch of the first Z Fold, many are awaiting the second outing to see how Samsung has refined the device. The first Z Fold was delayed from release after numerous media outlets discovered defective screens during its review period. Samsung delayed the release of the device from April to September last year.

Many expect Samsung to announce the Galaxy Z Fold 2 to have a glass screen rather than one of plastic. The Z Fold 2 is also rumoured to come with Samsung’s S Pen stylus. Additional rumours point to a possible cheaper model to release alongside the Z Fold 2, which is expected to have a higher price tag.

Finally, Samsung could reveal its new clamshell device, the Galaxy Z Flip 2, during Unpacked as well. There haven’t been nearly as much speculation as to what refinements could be made to the device. Though, it is expected that it will also feature 5G connectivity.

As with many other events impacted by the weight of COVID-19, Samsung has opted to go down the virtual route. On August 5th, media and enthusiasts can watch the keynote on Samsung’s website at 10 AM ET.
