According to a press release from Samsung Canada, the company is currently constructing their first Canadian retail store at Metrotown Mall in Burnaby, British Columbia. The location currently has Samsung-themed boards covering the construction.
For those that are unaware, Metrotown Mall is one of the more popular and definitely the busiest mall in British Columbia. As many may remember, a certain other retailer (APPLE) just recently opened up their fourth retail store in the region at Metrotown in September.
Located in the Metropolis at Metrotown, the Samsung store is designed to help Canadians pursue their passions with an exciting new way to experience and interact with Samsung’s line up of mobile, personal computing, and consumer electronics products, in a standalone retail location.
“Samsung is excited to bring a new level of retail experience to Canadians,” said James Politeski, President of Samsung Electronics Canada. “Our vision is to provide an immersive space where consumers can interact with our products in totally new ways and enjoy unprecedented service levels.”
In addition, it seems that the Samsung Store will take a page out of the Apple Retail handbook and will be providing in-store product education and a tablet-based point-of-sale system.
It will be interesting to see what the store looks like when it opens later this summer, as the press release states that the store will provide Canadians with a “premium retail experience”. This Samsung Store is actually located a short walk away from the Apple Store and as we all know Apple provides a very premium retail experience.
As seen in the Apple Metrotown opening day photos and videos, when a new Apple Store opens hundreds and hundreds of people know about the opening. In fact if you’ve never been to a new Apple Store opening, the entire store area becomes a giant celebration! It will be fun to see what plans Samsung has for their first retail venture in Canada.
