In an official statement, SaskTel has today revealed that it has no firm date yet when its infiNET high-speed fibre-optic internet service will make its debut in Humboldt. The company’s original plan was to launch fibre-optic internet services in Humboldt, Melfort, Tisdale, and Nipawin in March 2020.

“SaskTel remains committed to bringing infiNET to the residents of Humboldt as soon as possible, however we do not have an estimated time of when the service will launch,” stated the telecoms company.
The cause of the delay in Humboldt was apparently due to new guidelines around the amount of weight wooden poles holding power and telephone lines can support.
SaskTel and SaskPower are now working together to upgrade the wooden pole system where necessary.
“The infrastructure upgrade to address the issue with the wooden poles is near completion, which will help assist us with our continued upgrade,” SaskTel said.
SaskTel has also said that its fibre-optic internet is still scheduled to be installed in Tisdale and Nipawin after work is done in Humboldt.
