Sonos announced three new speakers today, with one of them being the new battery-powered smart speaker called the Move (which was previously leaked). Other new speakers include the Sonos One SL and Sonos Port. All three are available for pre-order today in Canada with availability later this month.
The Sonos Move is a portable battery-powered smart speaker that supports Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and can be connected to the Sonos system or as a standalone speaker. It supports multiple voice assistants such as Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant. Move will support Apple’s AirPlay 2 as well.
Sonos Move has integrated and automatic Trueplay tuning, to balance sound no matter where the speaker is placed. It also has a “tough durable shell” and has an IP56 rating. Sonos says the Move can withstand accidental bumps, falls, rain, dust, moisture, UV rays and also extreme temperatures.
Move has up to 10 hours of battery life and has a suspend mode for up to 120 hours. It includes a power base for charging and also charges via USB-C.

gives you the freedom to play any song you want, any way you want,” said Patrick Spence, CEO, Sonos, in a statement to iPhone in Canada.
“Move takes freedom of choice to the next level. For the first time, you can take Sonos anywhere. Move
marks the beginning of a new era for Sonos—one where brilliant sound not only fills your home, but
extends to every part of your day,” added Spence.
The Sonos Move is available for pre-order today at $499 CAD in Canada and global availability is September 24.
The Sonos One SL is a smart speaker without integrated microphones, as it can be controlled with the Sonos app, AirPlay 2, other music service apps and more. It is the successor to the company’s Play:1 speaker.
Sonos says it delivers ” rich, room-filling sound identical to Sonos One,” and can also be paired with the latter, or part of your Sonos home theatre setup.
The Sonos One SL is available for pre-order today at $229 CAD in Canada and it is available on September 12. Available in black or white.
The Sonos Port is the successor to the original Sonos Connect, allowing customers to connect their traditional stereo and receivers to stream music and more, including your CD or vinyl player via the line-in port.
Sonos Port supports AirPlay 2, allowing you to stream directly from your iPhone or iPad and to also let Siri play Apple Music.
Port launches pre-orders today in Canada at $499 CAD and launches on September 12 with limited availability, with full availability in January 2020.
