Spotify Redesigns ‘Your Library’ App Tab With Streamlined Search, Pinned Content

Spotify has added some much-needed updates to its “Your Library” tab in the app.

In a new press release, Swedish music streaming giant Spotify has unveiled a complete overhaul of the Your Library tab for its iOS and Android apps, adding tons of new functionality and making it easier to use than ever before.

The company’s redesigned “Your Library” is now rolling out now for all mobile users, explains the press release. The company says that the new experience is designed to better streamline the discovery of your content, including your saved music and podcasts.

Previously, the Your Library tab has been pretty barebones, allowing users to view their playlists, followed artists, and liked albums in addition to showing podcasts they are following and any episodes they have downloaded.

With the new redesign, the “Your Library” tab has a number of new, streamlined features. Instead of showing large tabs for Music and Podcasts at the top, it now shows the user’s profile picture and has shortcuts for searching through the library or creating a new playlist.

Additionally, a new search function searches the entirety of a user’s library, whereas the previous version had multiple search bars for playlists, artists, and albums. By having one search bar for everything — including podcasts — Spotify says searching for a specific item in Your Library should be a lot more seamless.

The new Dynamic Filters feature will allow users to narrow down their searches to the album, artist, playlist, or podcast, and Spotify Premium users can tap a “Downloaded” filter to check all the tracks they’ve downloaded, all in one place. There are also new sorting options that will allow users to view songs in the library sorted by alphabetical order, creator name, and by recently played.

Spotify already pushes users’ most-commonly-played playlists and albums to the top of the app, but there will now be support for manually pinning content there. Up to four playlists, albums, or podcast shows can be pinned by swiping right on them to see the new option.

For anyone eager to get their hands on the new “Your Library” for themselves, Spotify says it’s rolling out to iOS and Android “in the coming week.”
