Square has announced this morning it has plans to open up a permanent office in Kitchener-Waterloo in the Spring of 2014, located at 305 King Street in downtown Kitchener.

“We are thrilled to be part of Kitchener-Waterloo’s thriving and talented tech community,” said Demetrios Marantis, head of international government, regulatory, and policy work at Square. “Square businesses have already facilitated hundreds of millions of dollars in commerce in Canada. We’re excited by how much more we can do to empower local sellers by establishing a Square office in Kitchener and deepening our commitment to the country.”

The move will allow Square’s employees, which have now expanded to over 30 in Canada, to move into permanent digs instead of its current coworking space in the same area.

Last week the company expanded its Square Reader availability to Visions Electronics stores across Canada. Square launched in Canada during the fall of 2012.
